Sustainable, green buildings are rising in popularity. As part of our case study series to educate green building professionals, GBRI has compiled this list of 100 stunning and innovative green building projects from around the world. Georgia Tech Engineered Biosystem Building (EBB) is part of GBRI case study series where we look at amazing green building projects from around the world.
The LEED Platinum Engineered Biosystems Building (EBB) at Georgia Tech Engineered Biosystem Building is a cutting-edge new concept for research facilities. EBB breaks through the barriers of traditional laboratory design by establishing a network of open lab neighborhoods that encourage collaboration. Above all the “cross-cutting lab” is a departure from standard lab construction, with continuous working lab space running along the spine of the building and offices and meeting rooms in the wings. Similarly interaction is encouraged by natural light, outdoor views, a water collecting system. Also other biophilic components incorporated throughout the programme.
One of AIA COTE Top 10 Green Buildings, Georgia Tech Engineered Biosystem Building (EBB) is a LEED Platinum building that’s surrounded by various biophilic dhttps://ebb.gatech.edu/esign elements such as a man-made forest of nursery trees. Above all it is designed by architects, Cooper Carry and Lake Flato. Therefore EBB has an open and inviting concept of lab rooms that foster engagement. However it helps the interaction between students and staff working in the building.
