GBRI’s Legacy Learning Series
What is GBRI’s Legacy Learning Series?
GBRI’s Legacy Learning Series includes a selection of our finest curated courses that, while not formally approved for CE credits, offer critical insights into sustainability and green building practices. Whether you are looking to self-report your Continuing Education hours or simply enrich your professional knowledge, this series offers a wide array of learning opportunities.
As a committed USGBC Education Partner, GBRI has produced over 500 courses (audio visual and article courses), each submitted to GBCI (Green Business Certification Inc.) for rigorous evaluation and approval. Initially approved for a 3-year period, these courses are later archived into our Legacy Learning Series.
Though they may no longer carry GBCI’s current CE approval, these courses continue to serve as a rich wellspring of essential knowledge for sustainability and green building professionals.
Note: Access to GBRI’s Legacy Course Series is exclusive to our Platinum & Gold members.
What Will You Receive Upon Completion?
Participants in these courses will receive a GBRI ‘Certificate of Completion,’ containing the following:
- Course Name
- Course Creator’s Name
- Attendee’s Name
- Course Completion Date
- Number of Earned CE Hours
How to Report CE Hours
Participants may self-report CE hours via their USGBC account, located under ‘my credentials’ on usgbc.org.
Important: If you have taken these courses within the last 3 years, re-taking them will not qualify for additional CE hours.
Why Choose the Legacy Learning Series?
- Rich Resource: Ideal for professionals aiming to deepen their expertise.
- Self-Reporting Option: Courses can be manually reported for non-GBCI credentials.
- AIA Approved: Courses are continuously renewed for AIA members in need of LU and HSW credits.
The Approval Process: A Brief Overview
- Submission: Each course is submitted to GBCI for approval.
- Review Rounds: Courses may undergo up to two rounds of review, each taking up to ten business days.
- Validity: Upon approval, courses maintain their GBCI status for three years.
Why Can't These Courses Be Auto-Reported for GBCI?
Maintaining GBCI approval for a vast array of courses is resource-intensive and may bottleneck GBCI’s review process. To optimize the impact and timeliness of our educational offerings, GBRI resubmits only a select portfolio of courses for re-approval. This balanced approach ensures a more efficient GBCI review process and allows us to offer a broader range of educational materials in our Legacy Learning Series.
- Hold multiple sustainability credentials and seek a broad range of educational content.
- Are comfortable with the self-reporting process for Continuing Education hours.
